19 August 2011

Today we’ll finish talking about the syllabus and I’ll show you the blog and how to use it.  Then you will share your Haiku–at least one of them–aloud with your classmates (and me).

The rest of the course will be divided into three-week units.  Week 1 we’ll read master works, Week 2 we’ll write and Week 3 we’ll workshop/critique.  We’re going to practice that pattern this first week with the Flash Fiction genre.

Today I’m giving you two “longer” flash fiction pieces (under 1000 words) from Flash Fiction Online and four 55ers from The World’s Shortest Stories edited by Steve Moss.  Please read all six of these stories.  Then:

  1. Choose ONE of the flash fiction pieces you read.
  2. Write a Master Works Journal entry about that ONE piece.  Remember to answer all seven questions.
See you Monday!
