For the next two weeks (nine days really), you’ll be working on your portfolio assignment. It’s in your Creative Writing Handbook on page 52, and there is a rubric for your portfolio & presentation on pp 53-54.
In a nutshell, these two weeks are for
- Revising your pieces
- Reflecting on your writing process (strengths, weaknesses, style)
- Pulling your revisions and reflections into a portfolio presentation.
You’ve already signed up for your presentation “slot.” Presentations will be on May 18, 21 and 22 (the last three days of class).
Often times, students need an example of what this might look like. Using mostly student works from this class, I’ve created a sample portfolio for an imaginary student named Jane Smith. We’ll look at it together in class, and I’ll “present it” for you so you can get a sense of what an A+ Presentation would be. But it will also be available as a resource for you here: Portfolio Sample.
And here are some sample creative pieces as well:
- Sample Comic Strip 1
- Comic Strip Sample 2 (w Comic Life)
- Sample Slide Show
- Sample iMovie (or see below) – as I said, this isn’t the “best,” but at least it’s funny.
