3/21-22 – Plot & Character

On these two days, we’ll be using Cheryl Klein’s work with PLOT and Character to make sense of these bug-a-boos in our writing.

On Tuesday, I’ll ask you to begin planning a plot for the story you’ll be writing next week. I’d like to see at least half of this plot worksheet filled out when you arrive on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, we’ll talk briefly about character and then look back at our mentor texts to try to identify the “essence” and “action” we see for the protagonists.

Then I’ll ask you to write an opening scene for a short story or a novel that uses the idea of an “inciting” incident as well as a character with both “essence” and “action.” This should be approximately 1-2 pages typed (double spaced please).

This is NOT a final draft, this is just the start of something.

An experiment.
